He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Smith and Ida Olene Bailey; his stepfather Charlie Bailey; his son Charles "Bip" Smith; and his brother Steve Smith.
He is survived by: his son Gregory Smith. He is also survived by several grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
