James Dye Obituary

He was predeceased by: his wife Montie Blakeney; his parents, Ira V. Dye and Susie Elizabeth Dye; and his brothers, Lloyd T. Dye, Kenneth Wayne Dye and Charles Boyd Dye.
He is survived by: his children, Julia Hensley (Steven), Pamela Doty (Michael), Linda Smith (Johnny), Celia Smith (Andy) and James Dye, Jr. (Jeffrey Davis); his grandchildren, Atticus Hensley (Caroline), Leila Jackson (Dave), John Smith, Benjamin Hensley, Erin Schultz (Steve), Geoffrey Pratt (Liv), Isaac Doty (Christy), Ira Pratt, Sarah Lister and Rachel Lister (Devon Morrissey); and his great grandchildren, Stephanie Hensley, Maren, Jackson, Sam Schultz, Evelyn Fox, Zetta Schultz, Louisa Jackson, Andrew Doty, Patrick and Keziah Smith. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Lighthouse Assembly of God (2445 W Andrew Johnson Hwy, Greeneville, TN 37743).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Blue Ridge Conservancy, or Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
