He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Engler and Shirley Engler; his sister Nancy Engler; his stepson Kristofer Nathan "Kyle" Gooch; and his in-laws, Floyd and Marilyn Gooch.
He is survived by: his husband Sam Gooch; his godsons, Andy and Matthew Skrow; and his pets, Stella and Julliet.
In lieu of flowers, family ask that donation be made to The Wings Foundation, which Michael was very involved with.
