He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted May and Nell May; his former wife Debbie; his wife Carol May; his children, Kimberly Phillippi and Billy Blake May; his sister Lois May Farley; his brothers-in-law, Rick Farley and Russell Ward; and his nephew Lee Farley.

He is survived by: his son Warren May; his grandchildren, Lilly May, McKayla May Osborne and Blake Phillippi; his siblings, Naomi May Ward, Ricky May and Joyce May Harrelson; and his brother-in-law Mack Harrelson. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain City Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
