He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Allen Johnson and Geneva Belle Edmisten Johnson; the mother of his children Vilena Mae Graybeal Johnson; and his brothers, Allen, O'Dell, Scott and Glenn "Cotton" Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Crowder Johnson; his children, Walter F. Johnson, Jr. (Pam) of Johnson City, Tennessee, Janet Raynor Hellertown (Jim) and Diana Allen (Danny) of Concord; his grandchildren, Zack Johnson (Taylor Clodfelter), Beth Tupper (James), Annie Ellis (Doug), Hannah Raynor and Kaylee Johnson (Andy Clark); and his great grandchildren, Lucy Tupper, Luca Tupper, Lena Smothers and Adaline Smothers. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
