He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Max and Christine Max; and his brother Darrell "Dale" Max. He is survived by: his wife Othella Rice Max; and his sister Donna Sheppherd (Stan). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and his church family and friends.
