He was predeceased by: his grandchild Dana Hensley; and his great grandchild Angel. He is survived by: his wife Betty Bowden (Meadows); his children, Terri (Bowden), Hensley (Mike) and David James Bowden; his grandchildren, Heather Florio (MacKnight), George W MacKnight II and Troy Bowden; and his great grandchildren, Emily, Carl, Julianne, Mackenzie, Sophia, Adam, Olivia and Adalyn.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, September 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Franklin Road Baptist Church (3148 Franklin Rd, Murfreesboro, TN 37128).
