He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorris Jernigan and Sara Lowe Jernigan; and his wife Jeanice Jernigan. He is survived by: his children, Kim Abbott (John) of Midlothian and Lynn Jernigan of Spring Hill; his granddaughter Grace Abbott of College Station, Texas.; his caregiver Dorris Jernigan of Murfreesboro; his stepchildren, Oda Snell of Murfreesboro and Michelle Snell of Murfreesboro; and his caregivers, Emily, Tammy, Patty, Alyssa and Marissa. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and Molly the cat.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice and Paws of Rutherford County.
