He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory Washington Hazel and Virginia Sanders Upchurch; his wife Helen J. Hazel; his stepfather William Upchurch; and his children, Jamie Daniel and Becky Mangrum.
He is survived by: his children, Troy Daniel (Marqueta) of Flat Rock, AL, Rocky Hazel (Tiffany) of Murfreesboro, Marie McCoy (Karl) of Unionville and Nancy Hazel (Jerrod Tarpley) of Murfreesboro; and his siblings, Tom Upchurch, Willie Upchurch (Helen), Wallie Upchurch, Faye Hillis (Tommy) and Shirley Crossom (Wade). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
