He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth McDaniel and Joyce McDaniel; and his sister Susan Bishop. He is survived by: his wife Susan Elizabeth McDaniel (Reed); his sons, Derek Arciniaga and Christian "Spike" McDaniel (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Ryan, Maia, Maverick, Christian and Bennett; his daughter Jacqui Pierce (RJ); his grandchildren, Addison, Hayes and Reed; his daughter Megan Smith (Orion); his grandchildren, Gabriel, Jonah, Shiloh, Micah, Levi, Joel Capri and Elizabeth Lee; his daughter Elizabeth Huspen (Anthony); his grandchildren, Kedan, Harper and Elleana; his daughter Meredith Murdock (Jeremy); his grandchildren, Morgan, Tristan and Collins; and his siblings, Bill McDaniel (Martha) and Patricia Behne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N Thompson Ln, Murfreesboro, TN 37128). Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
In his last act of generosity and hope for future generations, Don's final gift to the world was a donation of himself to the Boston University CTE Center for research.
