She was predeceased by: her father Robert Elton Mears of Manchester; and her brother Robert Elton Mears, Jr. of Hillsboro. She is survived by: her mother Winn Mears; her siblings, Kay Taylor of Manchester, Robin Willis, Brian Mears of Hillsboro, Matthew Mears of Hillsboro and Maryann Dugan (Scott Jackson) of Evansville, IN; her daughter Stephanie Carlton; her son-in-law Matthew Carlton of Tullahoma; her daughter April Conway; her son-in-law Jason Conway of Cumming, GA; her son Daniel Jackson; her daughter-in-law Kristin Jackson of Murfreesboro; and her grandchildren, Catherine Bailey, Erica Bailey, Sam Woolery, Annie Conway, Caroline Jackson, Emmie Jackson and Violet Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Emily's honor to the Lupus Foundation of America.
