He was predeceased by: his parents, Reed Thomas and Ethel Cooper Thomas; his former wife Dorothy Thomas; his great grandchild Bella Garrett; and his siblings, Judy Thomas, Beverly Manus and Floyd Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Thomas; his children, Don Thomas (Charla), Fran Hixson (R. B.), Debbie Raines (Mike), Daryl Reed (Jean), Cheryl Womack (David) and Bret Reed; and his siblings, Wayne Thomas and Joyce Helton. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
