He was predeceased by: his son James Andrew Stem; his parents, Ernest Eugene and Mary Katherine Robinson Stem; and his sister Betty Jo Stem Whaley. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Hodges Stem; his children, Scott W. Stem (Dana) and Jayme Stem Sledge (Chris); his grandchildren, Andrew Keith Stem, Cooper James William Sledge, Janie Grayson Stem and Haylea Reece Sledge; his sister Nancy Stem Ford (Garvin); and his cousin Ann Stem Harper (Raymond).

Flowers are welcome and donations may also be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
