He is survived by: his sons, Larry Gonyea, Michael James Gonyea (Kathy), Edmund Mark Gonyea (Teresa) and Mark James Gonyea (Tammy); and his grandchildren, Nicholas Gonyea, Thomas Gonyea, Brandon Gonyea (Makayla), Rachelle Short (Andy), Whitney Patterson (Blake), Taylor Harper (Reese), Zach Gonyea, Blake Gonyea (Taylor), Kaleb Gonyea (Stephanie) and Mallory Gonyea. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Woodfin Memorial Chapel (1488 Lascassas Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37130). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
