He was predeceased by: his parents, Laurance Muhlig and Pauline Muhlig; and his grandson Jeremy Muhlig. He is survived by: his wife Dot Muhlig; his children, Jim Muhlig, Melissa Ridgill and Karen Muhlig; and his grandchildren, Adam Muhlig (Ellie), Jay Lovell (Kristhel), Brian Muhlig, Ashley Aderholt (Jason) and Drew Lovell. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Tennessee Tech University.
