He was predeceased by : his parents, Hulon Phillips and Mary Elizabeth Adkerson Phillips; his brother Don; and his son Jonathan. He is survived by : his wife Joan; his daughter Katie Callahan (Brogan); his granddaughter Etta Ruth; his siblings, Marilyn Young (Robert) and Lynn Phillips (Cindy); and his sister-in-law Charline Phillips.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home (820 S Church St, Murfreesboro, TN 37130). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
