He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Barrett and Maude Barrett; his siblings, Charles, James, Harold, Jeff, Bill and Margaret; his wife Sylvia Barrett; and his son Billy Hillis.

He is survived by: his son Randal Hillis (Carlene); and his siblings, Glen Barrett (Shanelle) and Mary Phillips. He is also survived by four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home (820 S Church St, Murfreesboro, TN 37130). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
