She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend John Ira and Izora Rankins; her siblings, John Ira Rankins, Jr., Leroy Rankins, Dallas Rankins, Wayne Rankins, Charles Rankins, Dorothy Rankins Matthews and Glenna Pearl Rankins; and her husband Deacon Vernal Eugene Smith.

She is survived by: her daughters, Diccie Smith and Wanda Smith Sanford; her son-in-law Lee C. Sanford of Grovetown, GA; her grandchildren, Brittany Sanford Rivers, DeAndre Rivers of Atlanta, GA, Lindsay Sanford Odom, Terrance Odom, Sr. of Florence, SC, Mason, Ryder Rivers and Tristan Odom; her great grandchildren, Tomika, Carlos Pace, Tiana Nelson, Destany Nelson, Saraysia Nelson and Josiah Crawford of Columbus, OH.; her siblings, Reverend J. W. Rankins (Hattie) and Christine Rankins Marable; and her siblings-in-law, Amanda Rankins, Ida Mai Clark (George), Margaret Edwards (Ozell), Kathleen Turner, Barbara Andrews (Bruce), Elbert Carney (Lottie) and Gerry Carney (Susie). She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
