He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mathis and Genet Mathis; his brother Steve Mathis; and his son-in-law Tod Deal. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his daughter Lori Deal; his grandson Jacob James Deal; his siblings, Mark Mathis and Junia Pendleton (Dan); and his sisters-in-law, Teresa Mathis and Florence Woods.
