Reginald Dyshay Smith Obituary

Dear family and friends,

It saddens me to announce the untimely death of our beloved, Reggie aka Dyshay.

We are all shocked and devastated at the unexpected loss of Reggie on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.

Reggie was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to us all. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Reginald Dyshay Smith was born on November 8, 1988 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Sonya Brown and Reginald Smith Sr. He transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.

Reggie was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until he was 8 years old. After the passing of his mother in 1997, he and his sister, Darsheena were taken in by their uncle, Stanley Brown, Sr, and aunt, Ana Brown. Since then, Reggie has continued to live in the Nashville area.

Reggie graduated from LaVergne High School in 2007 and briefly attended a university in Chattanooga. He also attended Nashville State Community College where he studied journalism. This year he planned to finish his degree. He recently applied to Nashville State Community College and was accepted for the 2020-21 school year.

In 2003, Reggie accepted Christ into his life at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Amos L. Howard.

Reggie was a lover of music, sneakers, jerseys, and fitted caps. He had a love for hip-hop, especially Jay Z, Cassidy, Monsta Muzik, and anything Philly. He always had dreams of being a famous rapper. Even towards the end of his life, he continued to write in his book of rhymes. His favorite basketball team was the Philadelphia 76ers and his favorite football team was the Eagles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Sonya Brown; his aunt, Beverly Brown; and both of his grandmothers, Doris Brown and Brenda Boyd.

To cherish his memory, Reggie leaves his loving and devoted parents (uncle/aunt) Stanley and Ana Brown; his father, Reginald Smith, Sr. (Judy); his grandfather, William Davis; his grandmother, Beverly Smith; his sisters, Darsheena Doss (Cedric), Khiana Robinson (Leonard), and Nancy Woods (Christian), his brothers Stanley Brown, Jr., and Reginald Smith, Jr.; his nephews, Jesiah Festus and Kasen Doss; his nieces, Anaya Robinson, Naima Robinson, and Morgan Doss.; his uncles, Kelvin Brown, Jose Ortega, Jr., and German Perez; his great aunt, Margaret Holland; his aunts Mary Ruth, Stacie Johnson, Cristina Perez, Elizabeth Morales, Zenaida Ortega, and Rebecca Ortega; and a host of cousins and friends.
