He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schafer and Lillian Schafer; and his sisters, Mary Furter (Al), Grace Parisio (Bill) and Jean Watne (Lee).
He is survived by: his wife Bernadette Brink Schafer; his children, Daniel Schafer (Denise), Brian Schafer (Kimberly) and Karen Stasiunas (Eric); his grandchildren, Derek (Rachel), Devin (Abigail), David Schafer, Isaac, Brady Schafer, Will and Eddie Stasiunas; and his siblings, Jim Schafer (Jeanna) and Cathy Alm (Tim).
