With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley Reed Townsend of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, who passed away on January 11, 2022 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Kelsey R. Reed and Razzie Hannah Reed; her daughter Stephanie Townsend Waddell; and her sister Faye Reed Nation. She is survived by: her husband Joe "J. W.".

The family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
