He was predeceased by: his wife Colleen Martin Lanter; his parents, Flora Lanter and Roy Lanter; and his brother Lewis Lanter. He is survived by: his son Steve Lanter (Kiento) of Knoxville, TN; his grandchildren, Michael Lanter, Karen Hughes (Curtis), Mark Lanter of Birmingham, AL, Courtney Lanter, Cole Lanter, Lilly Lanter, Donna Cowan (Glen) of Nashville, TN, Will Cowan (Janie), Matt Cowan, Philip Lanter of Navarre, FL, Jordan Lanter, Carly Lanter, Karen Vogel (Joshua) of Wilmington, NC, Isabel Vogel, Megan Vogel and Carol Lanter of Atlanta, GA.; his great grandchildren, Bowie Lanter, Hayes, Edwin and Graham Cowan; and his caregivers, Gail Duncan, Becky Pardue, Mary Barcomb, Susan Reed, Alice Baker and Aloma Avant.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be given to Tuscaloosa Junior Golf Academy of Ol' Colony, Hospice of West Alabama, or First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, Tn .
