He is survived by: his wife Essie Cox Heard; his children, Columbus Shack (Crystal), Jimmy Heard, Johnny Heard, Edward Cox, Nicole Prather, Emma Shelton (Steve) and Samantha Blacksmith (Herman); and his siblings, Virginia Johnson (Richard) of Una, Mississippi and Learnest Heard of Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, host of great grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
