It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ellen R Slate of Nashville, Tennessee, born in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, who passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 104, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vesper Russell and Bessie Mae Russell; her sibling Edrel Carnahan; her husbands, Charles Edwin Smith and Chester A. Slate; and her grandson Will McPherson.
She is survived by: her brother Roger Russell; her stepchildren, John Slate (Barbara) and Marie Slate; her granddaughters, Cristin Lewis (Jay) and Jennier Adams (late Bo Adams); and her great grandchildren, Ellie Ford, Thompson Adams, Parks Wallace and Sara Mac Wallace. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
