She was predeceased by: her parents, Roosevelt Phillips and Ethel Phillips; and her stepson Ricky Armstrong. She is survived by: her husband William B. Armstrong; her children, Deborah Armstrong, William C. Armstrong (Sharon), Derrick Armstrong (Melissa), Theresha Armstrong, Tarria Turrentine and Tracy Armstrong; her grandchildren, William, Jonathan (Jessamyn), Ilissa (Joe), Hananiah, Mishael, Azariah (Deloria), Steven, Randall, Angel, Brittany, Ashley and April; her sister Frances Phillips; her sisters-in-law, Lula Drake, Addie Bellafant and Mary Armstrong; and her caregivers, Sharon Claybrooks and Krisden Winfree. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She then worked at the Fifteenth Avenue Child Care Center until its operations ceased due to the 2020 pandemic shutdown.
