He was predeceased by: his father Homer Spurgeon; his son Lee Hampton Spurgeon; his parent Cricket Spurgeon; his siblings, Jocquelyn Goodwin Parks (Jackie), Drusilla Holmes, Joan Beale (Anna) and George Edward Spurgeon; his siblings' children, Andrea Allen, Kenny Goodwin, George Spurgeon Jr., DeWitt Spurgeon and Jimmy Beale; and his pet Cotton.
He is survived by: his sister Betty Allen (Lucy) of Long Beach, Mississippi; his sibling's children, Cyndi Beale, Marcie Bush, Lou White, Jill Douglas, Don Holmes, Sam Goodwin, William J. Allen, Charles Allen, Bobby Beale and Gary Beale; and his former wife Pam Lawrence Spurgeon of Birmingham, Alabama..
