With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Cunningham of Nashville, Tennessee, born in Washington, District of Columbia, who passed away on May 11, 2023. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Chauncey Cunningham and Allie Hohn Cunningham (Emily Messick Cunningham); his son David William Cunningham; and his siblings, Jane Truitt, Dan Cunningham and Patricia Zindler.
He is survived by: his wife Emily Messick; his daughters, Beth Sell (Charlie) of Nashville and Kay O'Connell (Matt) of Franklin; his sister-in-law Ann Cunningham of Tullahoma; his grandchildren, Allison Cunningham (Andrew Fletcher), Ryan Cunningham (Katie), Charles Sell, Benjamin O'Connell, William Sell and Emily O'Connell; his daughter-in-law Janet Cunningham; and his great grandchildren, James and Madilynn Cunningham.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra or the American Heart Association.
