With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jean McGowan of Nashville, Tennessee, who passed away on October 17, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husbands, John David Henley and Royce McGowan; her daughters, Gail Henley Davis and Susan Henley Simpson; and her brothers, David and Gordon Payne.
She is survived by: her stepdaughter Linda McGowan Beckham; her grandchildren, John Bass (Tonya), Rachel Deppisch (Rich), Ryan Simpson (Shanna), Amanda Teasley (Eric), Allison Davis, James Davis, III (Amanda), Jennifer Beckham and Scott; her sister-in-law Peggy Payne; and her brother Bobby Payne. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel (5852 Nolensville Pk, Nashville, TN 37211). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
