Jennifer Elaine Stroud Obituary

Jennifer Elaine Stroud was born on October 15, 1970 to Bill and Gwen Stroud in Salem, Arkansas. She was an only child and the apple of her parent's eye, a true daddy's girl. She had a happy childhood.

Jennifer graduated from Salem High School in 1989 and Lyon College in 1993. While attending Lyon College, Jennifer was editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Highlander, editor of the college yearbook, The Scot, a member of Alpha Chi and Sigma Tau Delta, a public relations student assistant, an Apple Project counselor, a member of the Publications Board, and selected for Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor of arts degree for a double major in English and communications. Jennifer was awarded the Mosley Fellowship and a Communications Book Award in recognition of academic achievement.

Jennifer's professional life began in high school at KSAR Radio in Salem, Arkansas. After graduating college, Jennifer worked in Paragould, Arkansas as a staff writer and photographer for the Northeast Arkansas Tribune newspaper. She was quickly promoted to news editor. While a staff writer, Jennifer wrote stories that won several Arkansas Press Association awards. She later moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she used her writing and editing skills in public relations and communications.

Jennifer enjoyed going to concerts and the movies. She loved to read, but writing was her passion. She wrote essays, articles, opinions, and had started writing a novel. She traveled extensively, especially enjoying her time in Maine and Paris. She went sky diving. Jennifer loved her dogs, Chesney and Sammy. She volunteered at an animal shelter. She also spent time rocking babies at the local hospital.

Jennifer had a compassionate heart, an adventurous spirit, and a creative mind. She loved her family and friends. She genuinely cared for others.

Jennifer Elaine Stroud of Nashville, Tennessee died June 27, 2022. She is preceded in death by her father, William Roy (Bill) Stroud; grandparents, Roy and Thelma Stroud and Clarence and Emogene Baldridge; her chihuahua of sixteen years, Chesney. Jennifer is survived by her mother, Gwen Stroud of Salem; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and her rescue dog, Sammy.

There will be a graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the Paragould Children's Home (5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450) or a local animal shelter.

The family would like to thank Jennifer's neighbors in Nashville, TN for their friendship, love, and care through the years.
