He was predeceased by: his father John Overton Colton; his wife Julia Champion Colton; his mother Josephine Trice Colton Williams; his stepfather Hensley Williams; and his half-brothers, Hensley Clay Williams and Maxwell Trice Williams.
He is survived by: his daughters, Candice Colton Bass (Jim) of Nashville and Julie Colton Jones (Richard) of Nashville; his grandchildren, Josephine, Orin Bass, Saidee, Ella and Clayton Jones; and his cousins, J. Overton Colton, Elizabeth Colton Walls, Elizabeth Colton, Marie Colton Woodard, Sarah Colton, Walter Colton and John P. Williams.
