He was predeceased by: his father Jack Davis Ray; his wife Sally Cox Raye; his mother Mozelle Denny Comer (Grafton Clay Comer); and his aunt Thelma "Aunt Shell" Webster. He is survived by: his brothers, Ted Ray (Wanda), Jack Ray (Brenda) and Ben Ray (Patricia); his nephew Jason Hayes Ray; and his cousins, Pamela Petree and Candy Allen.
