With sadness, we share the passing of Richard M. Ely in Nashville, Tennessee. Richard, born on October 20, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on October 11, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Richard for his warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. He was predeceased by: his father Richard "Dick" Ely. He is survived by: his wife Jan Ely; his mother Janice Rauch Ely; his sisters, Ann Ely (Rick Robbins), Beth Ely and Theresa Ely Griffin (Brad); his nephew Samuel Richard Robbins; and his niece Elliot Nell Ely Robbins. He is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Rose Mortuary (1421 N Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917). A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity in Richard's memory.
