He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Robert Grimes, Sr. and Irene Cox Grimes; his wife Angela Wood Grimes; his siblings, William C. Grimes, Sr. and Martha Ann Grimes Lester; and his friend Earlene Gravis.
He is survived by: his sons, R. Dale Grimes (Nancy) of Nashville and Stephen M. "Chip" Grimes (Diane) of Covington, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Robert D. "Bo" Grimes, Jr. of Charleston, Amelia R. Grimes of Nashville, Angela Grimes Bledsoe (Charley) of Memphis and Amanda Grimes Hervey (Jeremy) of Atoka, Tennessee. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of cherished friends.
