He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin H. McHugh and Flavel V. McHugh; his brothers, Edwin H. McHugh, Jr. and William T. McHugh; and his stepbrother John G. Shumaker.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Bouchard McHugh; and his family, Stephen H. McHugh, Jr. of Alpharetta, GA and Thomas E. McHugh (Jennifer) of Nashville, TN.. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A reception will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Blakeford Hall (11 Burton Hills Blvd, Nashville, TN 37215).
