He was predeceased by : his parents, James T. Harris and Neoma Harris; and his sisters, Anita Moore, Mary Rose Lemons and Linda Spears.

He is survived by : his wife Joyce Ann Yarbrough Harris; his children, Matthew Y. Harris, Sr. of New Albany and Amy Harris Brown (Dale) of Nashville; his siblings, Betty Anderson, Barbara Boyd, Becky Harris and David Harris; his grandchildren, Sarah Kathryn Reaves (Grayson), Hannah Harris, Matthew Y. Harris Jr. and Liam Brown; and his brothers, James Ted Harris Jr. and Jerry Harris.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the First Methodist Church (207 E Bankhead St, New Albany, MS 38652). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
