It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary Wayne Widner (New Tazewell, Tennessee), who passed away on August 4, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father Amos Widner; and his siblings, Vaughn Widner, JT Widner, Betty Reynolds and Margaret Neely.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene McNew Widner; his children, Traci Rich (Spanky) of Jamestown, TN, Terry Widner of Gainesboro, TN, Travis Widner of Jamestown, TN, Melissa Johnson (Joe) of New Tazewell, TN, Tracey Nole of Tazewell, TN and Amy Sandefur (Keith) of Tazewell, TN.; his grandchildren, Ashley Norman (Ryan), Hunter Rich, Chase Rich, Christin Widner (Jamie), Kayla Widner, Dylan Widner, Leah Webb (Mark), Skyla Johnson, Justin Nole, Sarah Sandifer (Corey), Daniel Nole (Estefany), Emma Nole, Emily Clotfelter (Lucas), Carly Sandefur, Olivia Sandefur and Matthew Sandefur; his great grandchildren, Adaylnn Norman, Lila May Widner, Remington Widner, Isaiah Nole, Eli Nole, Jason Nole, Linley Sandifer and Collins Sandifer; and his sister-in-law Shela McNew.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Claiborne Overholt Funeral Home Chapel (1106 TN-33, New Tazewell, TN 37825). A funeral service was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
