He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hassell Bessent and June Brewer Bessent; and his brother Don Bessent. He is survived by: his children, Jed Bessent (Rachael) of San Antonio, Texas, Shelley Bessent Porter (Jeremy) of Newbern and Holly Bessent Crider (Sean) of Ringgold, Georgia; his sisters, Kathy Bessent Morse (Chris) of Lewisburg and Susan Bessent Veal (Tony) of Ridgely, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Michael Piatt, Sarah Piatt, Nicholas Piatt, Christopher Crider (Caylie), Jacob Crider (Emily), Grace Morris (Justin), Jayliah Brown, Annaleigh Bessent and Jackson Bessent.
