He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Lanier (Jimmy) of Newbern, Tennessee; his brother Larry Newell of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and his grandsons, John Lanier (Leslie), Jeff Lanier and Eric Lanier (Kristen). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
