Jon Stephen Raitala Obituary
We announce the death of Jon Stephen Raitala of Newport, Tennessee, who passed away on April 9, 2025, at the age of 80. Jon will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sulo Jacob Raitala and Mildred Frances Raitala (Harbin); his brother-in-law Norris "Buddy" Remson; and his significant other Mae Sheppard. He is survived by: his daughter Sherrie L. Myers (Gary) of Maryland; his sister Ilona F. Remson (late Norris "Buddy" Remson) of South Carolina; his stepdaughter Dawn Colyer (Stephen); his stepgrandchildren, Emily and Scott; his nieces, Leah and Lana; and his nephew Phillip.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Steve's memory to the Morristown VFW Post 5266, 2503 E. Andrew Johnson Hwy., Morristown, TN 37814.
