He was predeceased by: his parents, Crawford and Carter (Edna "Mam" Solomon Carter); his siblings, John Carter (Naomi), Jack Carter, Bill Carter, Thomas Carter (Ellen), George Carter (Shirley Ann), Alfred Carter (Barbara), Rex Carter (Phyllis), Wayne Carter, Irene Rupert (William), Mary Seay (Homer) and Patsy Hawk (Buddy); and his brother-in-law Willie Burnett.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Carter; his daughters, April Bryant and Lindsey Massey (Michael); his grandchildren, Fletcher Bryant, Jesse Bryant, Payton Massey, Kinley Massey, Maggie Massey and Hunter Massey; his sisters, Shirley Golden (Loyd) and Idel Burnett; his nieces, Linda Carter (Sam) and Janet Ricker (Danny); his nephew Tyler Ricker (Kaleigh); his aunt Clara Jane Reynolds; and his close friends, Melvin and Dorie Busler. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Manes Funeral Home (363 E Main St, Newport, TN 37821). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel (363 E Main St, Newport, TN 37821). A burial will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at the Glendale Cemetery (3315 Glendale Rd, Bybee, TN 37713).
