He is survived by: his wife Pamela Scruggs; his children, Marcus E Scruggs of Niota, TN, Patricia Scruggs of Albuquerque, NM, Jureitta Latham of Athens, TN and Rebekah Goodner (Malcolm) of Athens, TN; his grandchildren, Tatianna Sanchez (Anthony) of Albuquerque, NM, Skyler Grider of Nashville, TN, Sonte Pilkey of Athens, TN, Kaemon Brown of Athens, TN, Peyton Scruggs of Athens, TN, Katana Brown Jacoway of Athens, TN, Kaylon Jacoway of Athens, TN, Koen Jacoway of Athens, TN, Gracie Scruggs of Athens, TN, Jameelah Robinson of Athens, TN, Amiyah Goodner of Athens, TN, Azariah Goodner of Athens, TN, Aliyah James of Athens, TN and Amirah James of Athens, TN; his siblings, Callen Scruggs (Lynette) of Athens, TN, Elaine McCowan of Chattanooga, TN, Robin Smith (Joey), Deborah Cox (Curtis), Lenoir McCowan (Gary) and Mary Scudder (James) of Athens, TN; his sister-in-law Darlene Scruggs of Aberdeen, MD; his uncle Wendell Arnwine (Margaret) of Niota, TN; his aunt Virginia Wynn of Knoxville, TN; his grandsons, Kayden Melton, Kainen Smith, Silas Mack and Braylen Smith; and his close friend Marcus Looney. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Lane Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church.
