He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Ward L. Barnes and Doris Ridley Barnes Gibson; his sister Martha Nell Barnes Bartholomew; and his close friend A. B. Coleman. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Schow Schwamm Barnes; his daughter Heather Barnes Wisniowski; his grandchildren, Coltman Joseph, Sula Elizabeth and Jackson Steven Wisniowski of Dallas, Texas.; his son Steven Ward Barnes; and his daughter-in-law Meghan Rochford Barnes. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
