James Wiley Grisard, 79, of 305 E. Forest Road, died Sunday of Alzheimer's disease at Oak Ridge Health Care Center.
He had been a resident of the health care center for approximately one year.
Mr. Grisard had been employed by Union Carbide Nuclear Division as a development chemist at Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant from Jan. 26, 1945, until he retired Nov. 30, 1975.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Oak Ridge County Club, East Tennessee Senior Golf Association and Volunteer State Golf Association.
Born in Winchester Oct. 22, 1910, to the late Lucille Anderson and Wiley Parker Grisard, Mr. Grisard was a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of the South at Sewanee. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
A son, Michael Tyler Grisard, died June 28, 1988.
Mr. Grisard is survived by his wife, Jaye Lafferty Grisard, whom he married in 1956; a daughter, Elizabeth Turney of Boulder, Colo.; two sisters, Martha Bartlett of Phoenix, Ariz., and Katherine Miller of Sarasota, Fla.; and by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Boyd Carter officiating.
