He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Roberta, William Lester Blackburn, Thelma and Marion Screven Hair; and his stepsister Elizabeth Marie Kurtz.
He is survived by: his parents, Shirley Hair Blackburn and William Gary; his stepmother Melissa Blackburn; his sister Catherine Blackburn Kinsey (Asheley); his niece Evelyn Kinsey; his nephew Davis Kinsey; his stepsister Emily Kurtz Powell (Austin); his aunt Cathy Blackburn Robinson (Randall); his uncle Robert Duncan Hair (Terry); his cousins, Brooke Bratta and Kendra Swaggerty; his friends, Michael Coleman, William Frazier, Patrick Martinez and Andrew Nelson; and his pet Cash. He is also survived by numerous other cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Ben Blackburn to Ensworth School (Nashville, Tennessee), Episcopal High School (Alexandria, Virginia), or Misfit Hounds http://www.misfithounds.org, a no-kill adoption/rescue organization for hounds with a "rebel spirit and an appetite for destruction.".
