She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Bellar and Azlee Bellar (Choate); and her sisters, Mary Shelton, Roberta Denton, Betty Derryberry and Wylow Dean Pierce.
She is survived by: her children, Loretta Simmons and George David Short; her granddaughters, Andi Cooper (Gary) and Stevie Velker (Ben); her great grandchildren, Seth Cooper, Deidrah Velker, Miriam Velker, Sadi Cooper, Will Velker and Scotty Velker; and her siblings, Linda Tucker (Jimmy), James Bellar and Mike Bellar (Yolanda). She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
