He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Terry and Allie Lee Hendricks Montgomery; his siblings, Annie Jeanette "Sister" Mercer, Walter Lee "Buddy" Montgomery and Edna Earle Russell; his wife Jeanette Evelyn Calvert Montgomery; his son Fred Ernest "Freddy" Montgomery Jr.; his sisters-in-law, Hazel Case, Sandra "Beb" Ashworth and Jimmie Tribble; and his parents-in-law, Clayton Morse and Grace Fox.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Carol Morse Montgomery; his granddaughter Ashley Paige Montgomery (James Baggett); his son Jimmy (Terresa Raines); his grandson Colby; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Russell and Helen Davis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
