He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Sparta; his spouse Sonda "Jan" Payne; his children, Michael, April and Chad Payne; his grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, Ashley, Trent and Hannah Payne; his great grandchildren, Rhidian Payne, Charlee Brittain and Richard Ishmon IV; his stepgrandchildren, Danielle, Katrina and Aryn Helfman; Alastor, Amyia and Ava.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Temple Baptist Church of Old Hickory.
