He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Patterson and Bernice Patterson; his brother Benny Patterson; his son-in-law Timmy Tinker; and his great grandchild Grayson Fine.
He is survived by: his wife Violet Patterson; his children, James Patterson (Carrie) and Christy Tinker; his sister Sheina Farmer (Kenneth); his grandchildren, Tyler Kindrick, Tyler Melton, Katie Fine (Daniel), Kara Patterson and Peyton Tinker; his great grandchildren, Rylie Kindrick, Blakelyn Kindrick and Kamilia Bowman; and his nephews, Bradley Farmer, Jason Patterson and Benji Patterson.
