It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sue Newport (Oneida, Tennessee), who passed away on April 8, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Stanley and Thelma Stanley; her grandparents, Rube, Bertha Stanley, Lora and Ida Reed; her sons, Johnny and Calvin Newport; her grandsons, Christopher and Brian Carson; her nephew Wayne Posey; her great-nephew Zack Chitwood; her son-in-law Jeff Owens; her brother-in-law Clarence Halburnt; and her close friend Nellie Cotton.
She is survived by: her children, Jennie Carson of Huntsville, Janice Owens of Lafollette, Jeff Newport (Robin) and Donna Ainsworth (Kenny) of Mountain View; her siblings, Carolyn Halburnt of Helenwood, Sonny Stanley (Linda) of Oneida and Larry Stanley of Yorkstown, Indiana; her grandchildren, Cristy Carson, Tammy Russ (Travis), Jennifer Reynolds (Brandon), Shon Owens (Jennifer), Jessica Crabtree (Lance), Kimberly Wands (Bob), Megan Spradlin (Josh), Brooke Garrett (Jesse), Jessica Jeffers, Matt Cole (Taylor), Zach Cole and Chyan; her great grandchildren, Savannah (Zack), Will (Ellie), Kaitlyn, Abby, Lauren, Kendall, Marley, Grey Riley, Keaton, Maverick, Aubrie, Mason Avery, Autumn, Ezra, Mikah, Cara and Robert; her great great grandchild Katie Couch; her niece Becky Chitwood (family: Gina Rutherford); her nephews, Steve Posey (family: Mark Posey, Scott Posey, Mike Stanley) and Jackie Stanley; and her close friends, Chris, Michelle Anderson, Kristin, Sterling Wilson, T.
